The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for evaluating existing processes, configuring and implementing new processes to increase efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability. Lead the Continuous Improvement efforts and culture at G3 Boats.  

The Manufacturing Engineer performs project engineering work requiring the application of standard and advanced manufacturing and quality techniques procedures and criteria in developing/improving processes and/or manufacturing systems,  independently develops clear and specific objectives for given assignments that may require the investigation of several alternative solutions, develops thoughts and ideas into engineered solutions with approval from Management, effectively participates in a team setting to achieve results, and is responsible for leading moderate to large projects through the use of sound engineering practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Evaluate and improve on processes in manufacturing systems.
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Develop innovative solutions.
  • Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
  • Collect, record, and transcribe data.
  • Show results in reports.
  • Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of production process.
  • Advise on corrective actions.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Assess processes, take measurements and interpret data
  • Manage cost and time constraints
  • Perform risk assessments
  • Provide process documentation and operating instructions
  • Identify, create, and apply manufacturing best practices and standards
  • Lead process development projects of moderate to large scope
  • Act as a vital resource for technical questions related to manufacturing and quality processes
  • Continually seek new manufacturing technology and processing methods that will improve the productivity, cost, quality, and agility of manufacturing
  • Determine manufacturing costs using established or customized methodologies
  • Develop new manufacturing processes and technologies where appropriate
  • Serve, when required, as the team leader on cross-functional projects
  • Lead manufacturing project teams and work with site personnel to ensure smooth implementation and transition of process development work into plant operations

Requirements:

  • Proven work experience in process engineering
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Knowledge of process related standards
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations
  • Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field
  • Recognized as a key resource or subject matter expert in areas of expertise.
  • Experience with production/manufacturing system and process design based on Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software is preferred.
  • Experience using MS-Office Professional Suite (specifically advanced Excel skills)

 Skills/Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, especially related to manufacturing methods, equipment and tooling.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and complete multiple projects, uses advanced problem solving methods to make decisions.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Employees of this class are expected to work with some degree of independence and motivation.

This individual will be doing Gas Tungsten Arc Welding or referred to by its subtypes as TIG. (Tungsten Inert Gas) This individual will be TIG welding aluminum parts, as well as using hand tools and measuring devises to build aluminum boats. This person must be able to follow instructions and work with other people.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (duties and standards of the position, including supervisory level and reporting relationship)

  • Perform housekeeping on a daily basis to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Welding aluminum parts of various thicknesses and alloys.
  • Read measuring devices such as tape measures and squares.
  • Use some power tools, such as grinders, sanders, drills, and pop riveters.
  • Responsible for the quality of the work you do.
  • Work quick under pressure and able to work overtime.
  • Work in a warm environment of up to 100 degrees or over.

QUALIFICATIONS: (in terms of experience, education & training)

  • Observe all safety rules in performance of duties.
  • Skilled in TIG welding of aluminum.
  • Need some knowledge of how to assemble things.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, and stoop for long periods of time.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, a Maintenance Tech A is responsible for maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and equipment.  Some of the responsibilities are but not limited to:  Perform maintenance on welders, presses and plasma equipment, and CNC equipment.  Must be able to do electrical troubleshooting and repair of production machinery, and general building and grounds repairs.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The health and safety manager’s role is to prevent and eliminate injury and illness to employees and assist companies to comply with safety laws. They inspect workplaces, and minimize or eliminate hazards from processes, such as incorrect working methods, and materials, such as potentially toxic chemicals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures that ensure compliance to federal/state laws, statutes, or regulations. Interpret applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and orders as they pertain to all environmental and safety issues.
  • Develop and maintain department budget for EH&S compliance, adhering to established guidelines.
  • Develop and execute a strategic Preventative Maintenance plan for the business
  • Oversee the activities of outside contractors working on company premises to ensure compliance with safety practices.
  • Monitor the inspections, use and condition of company tools, equipment and vehicles taking appropriate action to ensure proper operation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Maintain an Environmental Management System. Create and maintain environmental waste profiles. Coordinate environmental permit administration as required for new processes and equipment. Provide innovative solutions to continually reduce air, water, and waste reportables. Direct external environmental and other consultant services needed for technical support.
  • Provide safety and environmental audits of new and existing equipment and processes; prepare recommendations and implement, as authorized.
  • Plan and implement safety training programs for managers and employees in work site safety practices, correct handling techniques for chemicals, equipment, and other materials, in compliance with OSHA and environmental requirements. Perform workplace assessments, identify hazardous conditions, and take corrective actions. Ensure workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions. Maintain, update, and ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are up-to-date and employees have the ability to access those needed for their work area.
  • Lead Safety Program to reduce OSHA recordables and workers compensation claims. Manage Workers Compensation claims; track and evaluate worker injuries; interface with HR, employees, and insurance provider. Ensure full and immediate visibility to General Manager, Human Resources, when, where, and how any incidents/accidents regarding EHS occurred.
  • Participate and respond to internal/external inspections and audits by regulatory agencies and corporate EH&S.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with internal/external customers to facilitate problem identification/resolution. Act as liaison between facilities and corporate EH&S.
  • Publish management updates and metrics designed to initiate management awareness and participation. Maintain OSHA logs; ensure annual postings. Manage personnel assigned, including evaluating performance, recommending salary increase, promotion, hires and termination in accordance with company policy, state/federal laws.
  • Participate in and support the communication of company philosophy and information throughout the division. Perform special projects, as assigned. Maintain working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited institution with a focus in Environmental, Health & Safety preferred.

Required Experience

  • Previous environmental, health & safety experience required.
  • Significant project management experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to be able to build relationships and communicate effectively with both executive teams and the shop floor a must.

Preferred Experience

  • Strong customer service skills managing multiple clients in a high volume and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to create and refine a shared vision across key stakeholders through developing relationships and clear timely communication.
  • Demonstrated lean implementations and cost reduction accomplishments strongly desire
