The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for evaluating existing processes, configuring and implementing new processes to increase efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability, and maximize profitability. Lead the Continuous Improvement efforts and culture at G3 Boats.  

The Manufacturing Engineer performs project engineering work requiring the application of standard and advanced manufacturing and quality techniques procedures and criteria in developing/improving processes and/or manufacturing systems,  independently develops clear and specific objectives for given assignments that may require the investigation of several alternative solutions, develops thoughts and ideas into engineered solutions with approval from Management, effectively participates in a team setting to achieve results, and is responsible for leading moderate to large projects through the use of sound engineering practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Evaluate and improve on processes in manufacturing systems.
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Develop innovative solutions.
  • Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
  • Collect, record, and transcribe data.
  • Show results in reports.

Requirements:

  • Proven work experience in process engineering
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Knowledge of process related standards
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations
  • Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field
  • Recognized as a key resource or subject matter expert in areas of expertise.
  • Experience with production/manufacturing system and process design based on Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software is preferred.
  • Experience using MS-Office Professional Suite (specifically advanced Excel skills)

This individual will be doing Gas Tungsten Arc Welding or referred to by its subtypes as TIG. (Tungsten Inert Gas) This individual will be TIG welding aluminum parts, as well as using hand tools and measuring devises to build aluminum boats. This person must be able to follow instructions and work with other people.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (duties and standards of the position, including supervisory level and reporting relationship)

  • Perform housekeeping on a daily basis to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Welding aluminum parts of various thicknesses and alloys.
  • Read measuring devices such as tape measures and squares.
  • Use some power tools, such as grinders, sanders, drills, and pop riveters.
  • Responsible for the quality of the work you do.
  • Work quick under pressure and able to work overtime.
  • Work in a warm environment of up to 100 degrees or over.

  • Perform housekeeping on a daily basis to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and numeric control machines and machining centers to fabricate aluminum parts.
  • Able to read blue prints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, degree of bends, calculate order in which process must follow. 
  • Starts and observes machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust controls or control media as required.
  • Should be able to work with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Must be able to make decisions as to the quality of the part as it completes each particular point of the process.
  • Ensure the helper assigned to their machine is following all safety and compliance rules.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, a Maintenance Tech A is responsible for maintaining production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and equipment.  Some of the responsibilities are but not limited to:  Perform maintenance on welders, presses and plasma equipment, and CNC equipment.  Must be able to do electrical troubleshooting and repair of production machinery, and general building and grounds repairs.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  3. Completes Preventive Maintenance as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY: Quality Engineer (QE) performs inspections and sets quality testing models for analysis of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products. Assists in developing quality control policies. The QE work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Lead the quality team in the creation of quality measures across the business. They are tasked with developing and enhancing both manual and automated tests and they create a zero-tolerance culture for products that the business offers. Lead organization in ISO 9001 certification.
  2. Actively take part in the discovery and design phases of new product feature development and promotes continuous testing in an attempt to guarantee an error free final product. Identify any potential quality issues in both the new and already existing products, and report these to the relevant development managers.
  3. Ensures that validated deliverables always meet functional, design specifications and requirements of the products, and keep relevant management informed on the status of testing processes, raising issues when necessary.
  4. Regularly execute product tests and records the results during release cycles. Responsible for the identification of test requirements from defined specifications, mapping test case requirements, and designing test coverage plans. They also review functional and design specifications in order to ensure that there is a full understanding of individual deliverables.
  5. Further develops documents and maintains functional test cases as well as all other test assets, for example, data validation scripts and test data. In charge of evaluating and executing both manual and automated test cases and reports for those results. Regular update of test plans, systems, integration, and functional test cases to be used by the department.
  6. Analytical responsibilities conducting regular analysis of product requirements and produce test estimations. In this position, they must identify and report any defects in the product.
  7. Responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing usability tests and automation testing tools. Further design quality methodology and test approaches for use by the department.
  8. Collaborate with product developers in driving issue resolution. In this collaboration, they also perform root-cause analysis of product issues in order to isolate issues and develop solutions that prevent recurrence.
  9. Work with product development teams to ensuring that high quality and timely releases of product into market are realized. Work with the quality assurance team in designing and maintaining automation frameworks for the functional, regression, and automation testing of product.
  10. Maintain knowledge of the industry best practices, introducing the most suitable practices to the business.
  11. Perform other duties as he deems fit to the proper execution of his duties and duties as assigned by the Head of Quality Assurance, Director of Engineering, or the Employer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education – Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Business Development, Product Management, or any other related field. An equivalent of the same in practical experience is also acceptable for this position.
  2. Experience – At least 5 years of working experience in a Quality Engineer position within a business in a fast-paced and constantly evolving market. Must have experience in ISO 9001 Certification.
  3. Experience testing web applications using both manual and automated test methods and further experience developing those automated testing tools. A suitable candidate will demonstrate experience in the collection of test requirements, creation of test systems, integration of test cases, and documentation of test results.
  4. Good communication skills, both written and verbal form, as well as listening skills are all imperative for this position.
  5. MS Office – MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are all necessary in the creation of both visually and verbally engaging analysis reports and presentations for quality assurance leadership and relevant product development teams.
  6. Ability to demonstrate a passion for research and analysis and posses exceptional troubleshooting skills. Have knowledge of ISO 9001 Certification and the ability to query and manipulate the data.
  7. Results oriented individual that is helpful and consumer-oriented, procedural and meticulous, a team-builder and team player, and have the ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
